As a member of Texas Outdoor Partners (TOP), the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA); Texas Dove Hunters Association was able to stay informed on some key bills introduced in this past legislative session. Though there were many bills related to agriculture and firearms in general, there was one bill in particular that we watched very closely, this is one that would, could and will affect all of us as hunters and fishermen for generations to come. This of course is the Right to Hunt and Fish joint resolution. It was approved, which means simply it will be placed on the ballot of the November 3, 2015 vote. It will be otherwise known as and referred to as Proposition 6. A vote in favor of proposition 6 would preserve the constitutional right to hunt and fish and secure this right for many generations. This change to the state constitution would keep anti-hunting groups from ever having the ability to take this right from us as Texans. Eighteen other states before Texas have seen this need to preserve this right and have voted to amend their state constitution. Please go to the pole this November and cast your vote on proposition 6!
